Happy 4th of July!

The 4th of July has come and gone, but it's a big holiday in our family so I like to reminisce (even after the fact). For years I have celebrated at "the River" and it just wouldn't feel like the 4th of July without spending time there. This year was no different as we again enjoyed time with friends and family, swimming, fireworks, and lots of great food! The 4th of July really became special one particular summer, the summer I met my husband-to-be and spent a few hours on a surfboard :).

The Green Gateau

One of the ladies' favorite meals during this past weekend getaway was at the Green Gateau. We reunited with friends that had left the Holdrege area years ago. I have never heard of the restaurant before. I found they had a website after the fact, which is where the words below were found:

Our restaurant's name (French for "cake"), was inspired by a green cake from the cooking journals of artist Claude Monet. Mismatched pub chairs from the English countryside, an antique copper espresso machine from Italy, and an 18-foot stained glass church window imbedded in our celing are all part of an ecclectic design inspired by European Country Inns.

I didn't even see the church window... guess I have an excuse to go back! I had a chocolate chip scone with whipped cream, which was incredibly delicious, even at 8:30 in the morning. It's NEVER too early for chocolate!

Fun in the City!

When my Mom told me several weeks ago she was going to be part of a girl's weekend in Lincoln in June, she probably didn't anticipate me inviting myself along.... but I'm glad I did! After spending a fabulous weekend reunited with old friends (not necessarily in age), I learned many things about how fantastic life at 50 can be! I'm currently working on my first video documentary as I was without my camera this weekend. More to come!

Ella Grace

I got to meet the newest addition to my cousin's family this past weekend! Tyson and Kylie Horn were blessed with this little princess, who joined three big brothers at home.

I also am beginning to realize that I am addicted to baby feet! They are just irrestible!

First Wedding!

Amy, my amazing friend from North Platte, has her own photography business (A Moment). I was honored that she would even consider that I be her assistant at two outdoor weddings this summer. Above are a couple pictures I took at the first wedding. It was an incredible experience!

Eli

Sweet Eli! Mason's buddy, Eli, stayed with us a few days ago. Here he is pictured after just waking up from a nap.
