The Green Gateau

One of the ladies' favorite meals during this past weekend getaway was at the Green Gateau. We reunited with friends that had left the Holdrege area years ago. I have never heard of the restaurant before. I found they had a website after the fact, which is where the words below were found:

Our restaurant's name (French for "cake"), was inspired by a green cake from the cooking journals of artist Claude Monet. Mismatched pub chairs from the English countryside, an antique copper espresso machine from Italy, and an 18-foot stained glass church window imbedded in our celing are all part of an ecclectic design inspired by European Country Inns.

I didn't even see the church window... guess I have an excuse to go back! I had a chocolate chip scone with whipped cream, which was incredibly delicious, even at 8:30 in the morning. It's NEVER too early for chocolate!
